Is it really an agriculture lesson if you don't get dirty? The Mobile Ag Lab, sponsored by the West Virginia Farm Bureau, rolled through West Hamlin this week. "The Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in hands-on lessons that reinforce their knowledge of science, technology, English and math, while they are simultaneously introduced to agriculture education." Students had a great time touring the lab and taking part in the interactive lessons. Watching students learn something new, or try something for the first time never gets old! Thank you to the WV Farm Bureau and the Mobile Ag Lab Team for making a visit!

There is just something exciting watching objects glow in the dark. Making your own glow in the dark objects in science class is even better, and 8th graders at Hamlin did just that. Students made glow in the dark polymer worms! This is a great way for students to see how different materials/objects can change and create something new when they are combined. The end result was awesome!

If you had the chance to take in any of the Lincoln/Boone Middle School Basketball Tournament last week, you know the atmosphere was electric ⚡️ The championship game featured Harts PK8 representing LCS. The Lion faithful showed up in force for the game...but they were not alone. Students from other schools around the district showed up to cheer on their fellow LCS athletes. This picture of Hamlin students rooting on the Lions has us thinking the LCHS student section is in good hands! Harts, who won the regular season title, took the runner-up spot in the postseason tournament. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support the athletes all week!

The Army Corps of Engineers stopped by Ranger Elementary this week to talk to students about water safety. Students participated in several hands-on activities that taught them about safety in and near water. They also learned how to identify different tracks from animals living in our area! Thank you to the Army Corp of Engineers for this fun and interactive lesson.

🔴 #red4bp 🔴 A red wave swept through LCS last Friday for National Wear Red Day. Thank you to everyone who wore red to raise awareness for heart health and show support for BP and his family. Although a small gesture, putting on your red on National Wear Red Day means the world to those battling heart problems.

What better month than February for Love the Bus Month! Many students start and end their day on a school bus. Others ride the bus for field trips or athletics. Our transportation team works hard year around to make sure students get from Point A to Point B and back to Point A safely. The school day would not be possible without the school bus. Do you have a favorite bus driver, past or present? Give them a shoutout in the comments.

LC Auto, the high school's auto mechanic CTE program, is looking for two donated vehicles for class. The vehicles do not need to be in the best shape but they must be able to run. Mr. Burns teaches the class and says having a vehicle or two dedicated to the program will allow students to have more hands on work finding and fixing specific issues. If you can assist LC Auto in this endeavor, or point them in the right direction, contact Mr. Burns at the high school.

8th graders at Hamlin took to the sky (sort of) recently! Students took a tour of the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School. They took a tour of the schools hangar and sat in the cockpit of the airplanes. They also had the chance to check out the flight simulator and test their skills as a pilot.
